MAKE ART IN INDIA, STONE & BRONZE WORKSHOPS,
STONE CARVING WORKSHOP
“Make Art in India” arranges ten professional stone sculpting spaces for Artists interested in carving the Indian grey-black “soft granite” and two special limestones, one red and one green.
Participants get all the tools they need, hand-, power- and pneumatic ones + cutting and grinding discs and some assistance from skilled Sculptors.
Medium sized blocks of the local grey-black granite are also included in the workshop fee.
Creative Sculptors serves a good vegetarian lunch every working day.
BRONZE CASTING WORKSHOP
Make Art in India offers the possibility of a bronze casting workshop for the same fee as the stone workshop.
Participants get wax, hand & power tools and assistance by specialists all included in the workshop fee except for the metal and the preparation of the moulds for the casting.
A bronze casting workshop takes around three weeks. The process used at the site is called “Tribal Casting” and corresponds to our “Lost Wax.”
In the beginning, Artists may follow a one-week long bronze casting course (for free) and/or work on their own with wax models and casting forms.
On the second week, specialists help with the moulds, the firing of the wax and the casting that costs 50 USD/kg, depending on the size and quantity of the sculptures.
The third week is aimed at finishing the sculptures. Materials and tools are included in the workshop fee.
During the first week, Artists may follow a one week long bronze casting course* or work on their own with wax models and casting forms.
*The course is for free.
On the second week, specialists help with the moulds, the firing of the wax and the casting that costs 40 U$A/kg to 50 U$A/kg, depending on the sculptures size and quantity.
The third week is aimed at finishing the sculptures.
Materials and tools are included in the workshop fee.

In this little town of 14.000 inhabitants, hundreds of artisans keep carving in grey-black granite one exquisite Hindu God after the other. The outcome of their combined experience is tremendously inspiring.
Mamallapuram is an archaeological jewel with its temples from the 6th century Pallava Dynasty period, and its beaches stretching North and South. The water of the Bay of Bengal keeps steady 26°C from December to March.
There are direct flights from Europe to Chennai/ Madras, India’s fourth-largest city… 67 km from Mamallapuram. We pick up at the airport at any time.

Fees and details
Since many years, Global Stone Workshop® collaborates with Art Master Mr. T. Baskaran, Sculptor and Temple Builder, Founder of “Creative Sculptors,” Tamil Nadu’s best and largest stone workshop.
Participants may choose between a single accommodation in double rooms with private toilet in a Guest Houses for 22.500Rs for a six-day workshop week (about 280USD) or a more comfortable room with private balcony, sea view, air conditioning, mosquito nets, television, cold & hot water at the Seashore Garden Resort for 29.500Rs for a six-day workshop week (about 365USD).
In the workshop fee is included an individual working space, a medium size bloc of local stone, hand, power and pneumatic tools, cutting/grinding discs and assistance by the GSW leaders. Lunch at the stone yard is also included on working days.
Participants may take part in stone and bronze workshops for the same fee.
At Make Art in India/ Creative Sculptors you rent an individual working space of 4 m2. Make Art in India/ Creative Sculptors have no responsibility whatsoever for accidents that may occur during your working time… you sculpt at your own risk.
